Introducing Our New Alumni & Partnerships Director, Anataly Uribe
We are thrilled to introduce you to our newest team member, Anataly Uribe! Anataly will be Moonshot’s first Alumni & Partnerships Director. To help you get to know her, we’ve invited her to answer a few questions.
introducing anataly
As the Director of Alumni and Partnerships, Anataly leads Moonshot’s alumni services and strategy while developing and nurturing community partnerships. Born and raised in Denver, Anataly proudly identifies as Mexican-American and brings over 12 years of experience in education and nonprofits. Prior to Moonshot, she had the privilege of leading and collaborating with both professional and aspiring BIPOC educators in running a summer program for Denver Public Schools. She also worked as a bilingual educator, teaching grades K-4 primarily in the Far Northeast, where she developed and implemented bilingual curricula and cultivated strong, trusting relationships with students and families.
Being a first-generation college student ignited her passion for creating equitable opportunities in education and supporting those from marginalized communities. Anataly deeply believes in the power of education and, over her eight years of teaching, witnessed firsthand the profound impact that representation can have on students' lives. Her commitment extends beyond the classroom as she strives to create systems that support and uplift individuals throughout their personal and educational journeys.
Anataly earned her BA in International Affairs with a minor in Ethnic Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder, as well as an MA in Education Equity and Cultural Diversity from the same institution. She currently serves as a Research Graduate Assistant in a Grow Your Own program that allows high school students to earn college credit while exploring teaching and related careers through a social justice and equity lens. She is also pursuing a Doctorate of Education from the University of Colorado Denver, where her research focuses on the role of Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and explores the concept of servingness and the experiences of HSI leaders in Colorado.
What is a project that you are especially excited to work on during your first year at Moonshot? Why?
I am incredibly excited to work on initiatives that involve connecting with Moonshot’s alumni. One of my key goals during my first year is to build strong relationships with them, understand where they are in their journeys post-fellowship, and offer support. I believe that fostering meaningful connections is one of my greatest strengths, and it’s something I genuinely enjoy doing. I want to be able to help them as they continue to grow both professionally and personally.
What is a local and/or small business that you love?
One of my favorite coffeeshops is Quince Coffee House in East Denver. When you enter this coffee house, you instantly feel right at home. It’s more than just a coffee shop, it's a space where you come together and instantly feel like part of a welcoming community.
What is a book that you think is inspiring that the Moonshot community at-large might benefit enjoy?
A book that has been life-changing for me is Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed. Her heartfelt advice in each of her letters has resonated deeply with me. Her words have helped me navigate difficult decisions, trust myself more, and approach challenges with clarity and compassion. It’s a book I continue to return to, and it has inspired me to embrace life’s messiness and find beauty even in the most difficult moments. She’s an incredibly talented writer who draws you in, and trust me when I say, within all of her letters you’ll find one that speaks to your soul!
What does Moonshot’s mission and vision mean to you? How does it personally resonate with you, your experiences, and your identity?
Moonshot’s mission and vision deeply resonate with me as they reflect my own journey of growing into a leader committed to disrupting systemic inequities, a journey shaped by the support of my community and mentors. I’ve seen how creating solutions that address inequities for both youth and leaders can lead to real, lasting change, and Moonshot’s dedication to this work aligns with my core values and my commitment to driving meaningful impact in education.
